Markinch Parish Church

Preliminaries

• Please fix the date of your wedding as early as possible to ensure the Minister is available and you get the date and time you wish.

• The Minister will confirm the availability of an Organist.

Notice of Marriage

Each party must publish their intention to marry at the local Registrar’s Office. As this notice has to lie for fourteen days, arrangements should be made for this approximately  6 to 8 weeks before the date of your wedding. you should take your Birth Certificates to the Registrar’s as these will be required.

Bride

The Registrar’s Office for the Parish of Markinch is in Albany House, Glenrothes.   (Telephone number  01592  414900)

IMPORTANT: The Marriage Schedule which you will be given after publication must be brought to the Church by the bridegroom on the day of the wedding.

Marriage

Around three weeks before your wedding both parties should arrange to see the Minister to discuss  the final details of the service and to arrange for a rehearsal if this is desired. At the rehearsal the bride, groom, best man, bridesmaid(s) and the bride’s father should be present.

There are usually two hymns sung during the ceremony. Processional music is normally played while the bride enters and leaves the Church.
