The scene described for us in the first chapter of Revelation is of a king arriving and there was no mistake about why he is there either; he was King. The writer declares “Look! He is coming with the clouds, every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes of Israel will wail.” This is the foretelling of the second coming of Christ returning to earth in an unmistakable fashion befitting a king, totally different from the first time he arrived which was without all the pomp. Instead, he came into the world as an infant totally dependent on everyone around him.

In the second reading, St John takes us back to the trial of Jesus when Pontius Pilate asks Jesus if he is a king. Jesus answered “My kingdom isn’t of this world”. A statement which makes sense to us today but must have sounded really odd to the original listeners then.

During his ministry Jesus spends a lot of time talking about God’s Kingdom and the more we hear about it the more we understand that it is not at all like any other kingdom we know about on earth today. In God’s kingdom there is not only enough for everyone, but also, there is abundance in God’s Kingdom, everyone has enough and no one will want for anything. This is the good news that Christ the King came into the world to proclaim, and all who belong to the truth will listen to his voice.

Question: In what ways could we change our daily lives to allow the kingdom of God to break in?

The theme for this week’s Reflection is: God – King of Kings Scripture Readings: Revelation Chapter 1 verses 4b to 8 and St John Chapter …

[8

post-3059","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-wider-church
["GET
