The church will welcome members of the public on the afternoon of 9th September as part of Doors Open Day, a Europe wide celebration of architectural heritage. An exhibition tracing the history of the church begins in the church hall at 2.00pm, and a guided tour will take place at 3.00pm. Guides will be available throughout the afternoon.
Doors Open Day will give us a chance to share our enthusiasm with the wider world. Markinch Heritage Group will team up with Markinch Parish Church members to organise an exhibition and guided tour of the building.
Some beautiful plans and drawings have recently been unearthed that give us further clues to the building’s 18th century history. The exhibition in the church hall will set out recent research and presentations in the church will aim to describe how the building might have looked in former times.
