The Youth Church at Markinch and Thornton Parish is dedicated to empowering young people to take ownership of their involvement in the church. With a range of activities and services, including Sunday mornings, coffee mornings, and youth club, there’s something for all ages. The Holiday Kids Club and volunteer opportunities also provide ways for young people to get involved and make a difference. The church is currently reviewing how to engage young families and teens in a less formal way.
We’re all about the youth in our community, offering a range of exciting ways for kids and teens to connect with the church. We want young ones of all ages to feel empowered and take the reins when it comes to their church and how they want to be involved. One clever young person came up with the Youth Church’s tag line, “Becoming the Change,” which perfectly captures their attitude towards the church and their role in it. From the littlest ones on Sunday mornings, playing with toys and munching on snacks, to the curious Kids Club members exploring every nook and cranny of the church grounds, to the spirited debates among our senior youth on issues that matter to them, we’re all about giving them the freedom to explore, question, and take ownership.
Markinch and Thornton Parish is a lively community offering a variety of activities for people of all ages. The youth services are particularly impressive, with a youth club and Sunday morning sessions that feature crafts, music, lessons, and snacks. The church welcomes everyone from one-year-olds to older children, and the Minister Conor loves to spend time with the kids and read stories to them.
The church hall in Markinch turns into a coffee wonderland on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with toys and art supplies for the youngest church-goers. Kids are also included in the coffee and snack fun on Sundays and the first Sunday of winter brings a soup-tastic treat. All are welcome to join in on the community fun!
Our Youth Club is the perfect place to let your hair down and have some fun! Every Thursday during school term time from 6.30 – 8pm, kids from P5 to S1 are welcome to join us. Think of it like a social club with a sprinkle of our church’s awesome values and beliefs. Our team of volunteers and two wonderful youth workers, who are also part of our congregation, are always on-hand to make sure every kid has a blast!
Get ready for some summer fun! Our Holiday Kids Club is back, and this time we’re diving into the epic tale of Jonah from July 10th to 14th, 2023. Last year, we had a blast exploring the story of Joseph with around 30 primary school kids who indulged in music, art, and craft activities. They even led the Sunday morning worship in the absence of the minister! This year, we’re cooking up even more awesome activities to bring the story of Jonah to life. Get your sunscreen and hats ready for a week of adventure and excitement!
