Union of Markinch and Thornton The Service of Union will take place at Thornton Parish Church on Thursday 5th June at 7.00pm. The Induction service for a new minister (when found), will be at Markinch, as Markinch can cater for a greater number of people and the induction service is likely to be busier.

Sunday Service Times As we will become a joint charge on 5th June, the time of our Sunday services will change from 11am to 11:30am from 8th June 2014, with services at Thornton being at 10am.

Coffee Mornings on Thursdays from 10.00am – 11.30am in the church hall. Join us for tea or coffee and a chat. You are always welcome.

Thursday Coffee/Teas Members can now pre-pay their Thursday coffee/tea and raffle costs for the year. This will enable us to treat as income on which we can reclaim tax from HMRC. A token will be provided to show that payment has already been made. Members can make payment directly to Nancy Munro and will receive a token to show that they have pre-paid. It is intended to stick to the calendar year, so payments for 2014 will cover to 31st Dec 2014.

The Markinch Local Committee of Cancer Research UK are holding a Coffee Morning on Saturday 17th May 2014 at Balbirnie Court Markinch from 10am till 12 noon. Sales Table – Tombola – Raffle. Tickets £2 from Teresa Henderson.

The Youth Club are planning on adding some bedding plants to the flower tubs in the church hall garden. They would appreciate donations of plants and these can be left in the church hall until 19th June as this will be the last week the youngsters will be using the hall before the summer holidays.

Christian Aid Envelopes Donations can be returned to the Church anytime during the next few weeks, please check the Christian Aid website, the Church magazine or our Facebook page for information about the work of Christian Aid.

The Flowers in Church today are dedicated to the Glory of God and are in loving memory of Jean Gould. They are gifted to the church by her “boys” – her sons Harry and Bryan. There are also flowers in loving memory of James Warden. These are gifted to the church by Isobel, Paula and Jill.
